About Metanoia

It is here that I am called to be a witness to the Metanoia—the difficult but necessary shift from an isolated mind to a larger calling. For years, I built a fortress within to ensure nothing would break me, but I was broken through the rawness of life, which has left deep wounds where rivers run red. I am not a victim but a liberator from the evils that live amongst us.

My writing takes many forms, all of which will be explored here. Literary essays that wrestle with my Metanoia, and those that shape our lives, poetry to capture a moment of passion, and short stories that grapple with our humanity. I will provide book analyses and reviews that engage writers from St. Anselm of Canterbury to Vasily Grossman. Each piece is part of a singular mission: to exhibit my life for others, testify to the truth found in suffering, and come out of the darkness in which we live.

My perspective has been forged by a life with no roots. I studied the Lotus Sutra during my Confirmation year while growing up on an island in the Gulf of Alaska. I watched men die on the streets of Juarez and those sitting outside their homes in central Iraq as an air traffic controller. I loved through the birth of our children and the pains within the Sacrament of Marriage as I navigated a career in machine learning. But I write now to reframe my narrative to bring others to peace, joy, and truth.
